This is a picture of the Neues Rathaus (New City Hall) in Leipzig. New is a pretty relative term cause its at least 100 years old.

My Proposal

My work will include:
· spearheading follow up with previous church related contacts (LST Program for example)
· one-on-one bible studies
· participation in weekly group bible studies
· speaking and leading in our Sunday assembly

Various service projects in the community, such as:

· volunteering at Ronald McDonald House
· work with group foster homes
· civic youth projects
· various and on-going ministry related service to the church and church families in Leipzig.

Primary Goal:

· Follow- up work is critical to the success of the Let's Start Talking program. Each person who participates in an LST summer mission usually reads with about 10 contacts. Depending on the size of the team that could mean upwards of 30-60 contacts. Of those, perhaps 50% will seek a deeper understanding of the text. (the Book of Luke and Acts)
· Contacts are made in the initial six week period; contacts are kept by a quick follow-up period of a further 6 weeks to a year and beyond.

My qualification's include:

· A history with the LST program:
>I was a part of LST teams in Antwerp, Belgium and Tallinn, Estonia. While employed as a English teacher in Chemnitz, Germany; I took part in an LST follow-up campaign co-ordinated by the local missionaries.

· Education:
>I hold a degree of Ministry in Religion from Western Christian College. While at Western I participated in many outreach opportunities and fostered an interest in missions: including a campaign to Belgium to distribute leaflets in Antwerp.
· Local Knowledge:
>Usually when a person goes to do mission work there is a period of time that is spent adjusting to the new culture. I have been to this area before (9 months), I know the territory well and I will be able to hit the ground running.
· Language:
>I speak German. I studied German Grammar and Literature at the University of Saskatchewan for two years and spent six weeks in the Canadian Summer School in Germany in Kassel, Hesse, Germany. In addition, nine months spent as an English teacher in Chemnitz allowed me to practise and expand my German vocabulary.

The opportunity:

· I have a four to six month window of opportunity. I will soon be between jobs. I have the time this winter to travel to Germany to take part in this follow-up campaign.

The Need:

· Unfortunately, the option to teach part-time while involved in this mission is unavailable at this time. The teaching job market fluctuates alot and at this time I can not count on it for support. In light of that, I need to raise all the funds that I will need to live in Leipzig.
· Costs:

>Rent: 250 - 400 per month: includes heat and water but not electricity, telephone, etc.
>Telephone and Internet: 70 - 90 per month
>Travel: 50 - 100 per month
>Public Transportation: 50 - 60 per month
>Groceries and household items: 300 - 400
>Student Loan payments: 350 per month
>plus miscellaneous one-time expenses

This is only a rough estimate based on how much it cost to live in Germany two years ago. Even though the Canadian Dollar has strengthened in the last 2 years, it has not improved as much against the Euro as it has against the US dollar.

· I estimate that I will need approximately 1500 Canadian per month.
· I also need about 1200-1500 CAD for travel to and from Germany.

Thank you for your interest, I look forward to talking to you about this opportunity.
